Confetti Finally Goes Home

Posted on Sunday, May 19th

Confetti Finally Goes Home 5,291 days. That’s 14 ½ years. Until April 30th, Confetti was the kitty who had been with Furkids the longest. Confetti was born in November of 2002 – the same year Furkids was founded, and came to Furkids in November 2004 from the Atlanta Humane Society, which means she may have spent her entire life in shelters. Confetti was adopted and returned several times over the years. Usually she was returned because of inconsistent litter box use. The last time she was adopted was in 2015. Whenever Confetti came back to Furkids, she settled right back in just like she… READ MORE >

Jethro’s Cheeky Diary: the Power of Positive Thinking

Posted on Thursday, May 2nd

Jethro’s Cheeky Diary: the Power of Positive Thinking When Jethro came to us as a hurricane refugee, he was a truly sad kitty. He struggled to feel at home in the shelter, and although it was comfy and he got to participate in our Purrkids program (for shy, depressed or less social kitties who need extra attention), he still seemed so sad. Worse, he gained weight. LOTS of weight; to the point where he had difficulty moving around. We knew focused attention, a weight-loss supervisor and a real, loving home was what he needed. It took awhile, but we finally found Jethro's human hero in our Fabulous Foster, Linda H.… READ MORE >

Exquisite Eve’s Urgent Rescue

Posted on Thursday, May 2nd

Exquisite Eve’s Urgent Rescue In pain with a shattered pelvis and labeled URGENT, Eve was forced to languish in a crowded animal shelter in rural Georgia. In desperate need of medical care, Eve clearly needed surgery as well as a long recovery period – something animal control facilities are not able to do and sadly forces them to euthanize sweet, loving dogs and cats like Eve. With time quickly running out, Eve had to get out of animal control and out of pain. Thankfully, Furkids was alerted to her plight and we rescued her from the shelter and immediately got her to the vet.… READ MORE >

The Miraculous Recovery of Charles Xavier

Posted on Tuesday, January 22nd

The Miraculous Recovery of Charles Xavier About a month ago, we came across a video from The Grey Project, an organization that helps feral cats in Cherokee County, along with this post: “Please - begging for help or for rescue!! This is the second day that we have seen this kitty at one of our locations. He does not seem to be familiar with the other cats. He is friendly.” Misunderstood and unloved, he was obviously dumped at this cat colony with no concern for him at all. He was simply thrown out like trash. He had no chance to survive outdoors on his own, and… READ MORE >

I Found a Home for the Holidays

Posted on Saturday, December 22nd

I Found a Home for the Holidays Happy Holidays everyone, 2018 was sure a whirlwind of a year! So sorry if I haven't been able to keep in touch, I've moved around a lot. Here's a quick update for those I've missed:  I started the year off at a local animal control. They kept me warm and fed, but I just wasn't getting the attention I needed. So, in January, I schmoozed my way into Furkids and found a nice lady to let me crash with her for a while. That was great, but I figured I needed to get out and meet more humans. I left my foster… READ MORE >
