Furkids Sponsors Contest for Rescue Cats to Appear in 10th Anniversary Furkids Cat Calendar

Atlanta, Ga. (June 10, 2011) – Do you have a rescued or adopted cat with a great face and an even better rescue story? If so, enter your pet to be among those featured in the Furkids 2012 Cat Calendar.  The calendar will be one part of the Furkids 10^th anniversary commemoration.

Furkids (www.furkids.org) is an animal rescue organization that operates the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter for homeless cats in the Southeast.  The Furkids 2012 calendar will feature professional photos of 13 rescued cats and their stories.

The calendar is open only to rescued or adopted cats.  Here’s how to enter:

• Complete the attached form (or download a form at www.furkids.org and fill it out.  Send the completed form, along with a photo of your cat and a $30 entry fee, to Furkids, 2650 Pleasantdale Road, Suite 8, Atlanta, GA 30340.  The entry fee includes a copy of the completed calendar, a $20 value. All proceeds from the entry fee and calendar sales will benefit Furkids.
• Photos and applications also can be e-mailed to: jacob@furkids.org.  (Applicants who submit forms and photos electronically should mail a check with a copy of the application to Furkids, 2650 Pleasantdale Road, Suite 8, Atlanta, GA 30340.
• The entry photo can be any photo that shows what your cat looks like.  The photo will not be used in the calendar but will be used to determine the winners.  Your submission photos cannot be returned to you.
• The winning cats will be judged based on their appearance and story.
• Winners will be announced between July 27 and 31 on the Furkids Web site, in the Furkids newsletter.  Winners will be notified by mail.
• The submission deadline for applications is June 28, 2011.

Prizes:  Furkids will select 13 winning cats; each of 12 will be featured for one different month on the 2012 calendar.  All 13 winning cats will receive a photo shoot on site at their homes by Esther JuLee Photography.  If your cat is selected, you will need to be available to have your pet’s photo shot at your home between August 1 and August 31, 2011.

Grand Prize: Of the 13 winning cats, one cat will be selected to be the grand prize winner. That cat will be featured on the calendar cover and the owner will also receive an 8 x 10 print of the animal’s photo.

To make the Furkids 2012 calendar possible, Esther & Jacob of Esther JuLee Photography (www.estherjulee.com) are donating 13 photo shoots (each valued at $500) and providing designing and layout services for the calendar.

In addition, Furkids is offering 12 $400 sponsorships, one for each month of the calendar.  Each month’s sponsor will have a logo and a portion of the graphic space for the sponsored month of the calendar.  Sponsors also will be acknowledged on the Furkids Website and newsletter.
