Chihuahua (Mix)

Rudolph, AKA Rudy, is a sweet, loving chihuahua mix who loves nothing more than a belly-rub snuggle. He is a happy, playful boy who loves to be with his people and will play with other dogs. He is around seven years old, and weighs about 10 pounds, so he needs a home without small children. He is cautious around strangers, but Rudy-roo loves everyone when he gets to know them.

Liz Sweeney has 28 pounds of love to commit to her new family. This five-year-old Spaniel mix is white and tan. She’s five years old. She’s shy, quiet and a little timid – maybe because her owner had to give up. But with the support of love of a forever family, she’ll come into her own in a new home. He’s not a wild-and-crazy guy -- this two-year-old Pekingese mix is quite serious about finding a home forever. Chevy Chase is white and black. He weighs 15 pounds and was rescued from a high-kill shelter. This sweet little guy is ready to settle down and become part of a caring, forever family. Chevy Chase will need an adult, loving home now and in the future.

Standard Smooth-Hair Dachshund mix

You can’t resist the distinctive mug on this tan-and-white standard smooth-hair Dachshund mix. Dana Carvey is four months old and weighs 11 pounds. He was surrendered by owners to a high-kill facility, and now the little character is looking for a family that will love and care for him for the rest of his life. Due to his size, no small children for Dana Carvey.
Puppies require a lot of time and commitment. Please make sure your schedule can accommodate Dana Carvey’s needs prior to applying. We are considering only applications with confirmable vet histories.

Yorkshire Terrier, Miniature Poodle mix

Dennis Miller weighs only six pounds and is a year old, but the black Yorkshire Terrier and Miniature Poodle mix likes to spread out in his space. He’s a scruffy – and loveable – guy, just like his handsome namesake on the “Saturday Night Live” of old. He was turned over by a rescuer. Due to his size, Dennis Miller will need an adult-only home now and in the future."

Oh Gilda, it’s impossible not to love you. This three-year-old Gilda Radner doesn’t have the wild-and-wooly mane of her namesake on the old “Saturday Night Live,” but she, too, aims to please, as her namesake did – most often! The black-and-white Standard Smooth-Hair Dachshund mix weighs 16 pounds. She came to SDR from a high-kill facility and is just glad to be able to look forward to snuggling, hugs and kisses in a home of her very own.

Spaniel mix

Roland is a handsome 6-year-old, 47-pound Tri-color Spaniel mix. He and his brother Cuffy were turned over to SmallDog Rescue by their owner through no fault of their own. Roland is shy and reserved on first meeting, but, once he warms up to you, you will probably find him leaning or laying against you. This well-mannered fellow is sweet and gentle. He just needs a little more confidence and a loving forever family – preferably one that is adult-only or with older children.

If Archimedes, a 3-year-old Shihtzu is anything like his namesake, one of the greatest mathematicians of ancient Greece and all time, he’s counting the days until he reaches his forever home. The sweet black and white male weighs 13 pounds. Found as a stray, his hip was injured. After recovering from surgery, this happy, soulful-eyed guy,with his handsome white whiskers, chest and paws, will be ready to snuggle into a home of his own. No small children for Archimedes.

Brownie Baton Rouge

Shepherd (Basset Hound)

Brownie Baton Rouge is a sweet as she can be Shepherd/Basset Hound mix. She is a year old and is a goofy, playful puppy! She currently weighs 42lbs. Brownie has irresistible brown eyes and an adorable wrinkly face. She lost her home for circumstances beyond her control but is happy to meet new people and will be a wonderful addition to her future forever home! Brownie needs a home with adults only or children 10 and up.

Thunder Bird (T-Bird)

Thunderbird, affectionately known as T-Bird, came from the same place as the Tennessee Nine. This handsome peke was used as a stud in a puppymill, living in horrible condition. Fortunately, he is better shape than the girls we rescued (the benefits of not having carried many litters of puppies) and doesn't appear to have any major health issues. T-Bird will need an adult only home and, preferably, one that is experienced with the pekingese breed. T-Bird does not regularly attend our weekly adoption events. Private meetings can be arranged for pre-screened applicants.

Buster Butterbeer

Terrier (Poodle)

Buster Butterbeer is an outgoing and playful terrier/poodle mix. He is a smart, 9 ˝-year-old fellow who enjoys the company of his other four-legged pals. Walking on a leash is not a new skill for Buster; he’s got it down! This 29-pound, tan and white pooch is also a good listener. He can be a little nervous when he first meets new human friends, but warms up to you nicely with a little TLC. Buster is hoping for a loving and committed home. No children or cats for Buster, please.
