Guido Of Arezzo
Adult Male

Lhasa Apso (Maltese)

Mr. Guido of Arezzo has come a long way to get to SDR. This 2 year old, 13 pound Lhasa Apso mix recently arrived after a large scale breeding operation in Missouri shut down. Guido is a friendly boy but is still wary of approaching when asked. We’re sure he will come around, he just needs a little TLC. Soon enough he’ll be a happy boy, accepting all the love he can get from his forever home. Update from Guido's foster mom. In just about a day Guido has already learned to walk on a leash and go up and down stairs. What a smart boy he is. No small children for Guido of Arezzo.

Lords a Leaping
adult male
Wire-Haired Terrier (Cairn Terrier)

It’s high time this unique little dog found his forever home. Lords a Leaping is not your run-of-the-mill terrier. He’s a rootin’-tootin’, squirrel-chasing, life-of-the-party terrier. He is about 5 years old and weighs 12 pounds. Lords is a bright, attentive boy who is loyal as all get-out and ready to do anything you want when you're clear about what it is. This scruffy, blond bundle of terrier gumption gets along with most other dogs and likes to run, play and explore in his yard. Lords is a fun, quirky boy who absolutely adores his special people. He can sometimes get a little greedy – even overly protective -- about their attention, but, in his foster home, he’s learning about sharing the love. Lords has a big, energetic personality in a slight little body, but when the time is right, he'll curl up for a nice, calm cuddle. He loves walks and car rides. And he would like nothing better than to sleep at the foot of the bed of someone all his own. Lords is a character and a half who sometimes does handstands and cleans your face and ears with all his kisses. He’s is a one-of-a-kind fella who is looking for that one-of-kind home where he’s appreciated for exactly who he is. No young children for Lords a Leaping. Sorry … no apartments, either!

Courteney Cox
adult female

Cocker Spaniel

This sweet girl is Courteney Cox. She is a 7-year-old Cocker Spaniel who weighs a little under 20 pounds. She is a friendly, affectionate little dog who has never met a stranger. Courteney is happy, too, in spite of being faced with the challenge of being newly blind. Sadly, she had to have both eyes removed in January to stop the pain of glaucoma. Despite her handicap, Courteney has maintained her sunny disposition and is adjusting well to her blindness. She loves people and gets along great with other dogs. This lovely girl will make a wonderful companion to the right family.

Laurel
Adult Female

Long-Haired Dachshund

There’s something about redheads! Take Laurel, for instance. She is a 3-year-old long-haired dachshund with a gorgeous, glossy red coat. What also sets Laurel apart is her distinct and charming underbite. Weighing in at 16 pounds, Laurel is timid on first meeting, but she is beginning to learn that she has many kind and gentle friends. Next – a kind and gentle home where she can learn that lesson for good.

Hawkeye
adult male

One minute, snuggles and kisses. The next, a world to explore and conquer! Hawkeye is a young, 2-year-old Min Pin/Chihuahua mix. This lively boy is bright, inquisitive and full of energy. Hawkeye is a big dog in a tiny package. True to his breed, he needs to size up strangers before he's sure he can trust them, and he'll let you know if he doesn't. But once he does trust you - wow, what a lover! You have a loyal companion for life. Hawkeye is best suited for a calm, dog-savvy, adult-only home. Experience with the breed is a plus. No children, now or in the future. Applicants may meet this special little guy by appointment.

Justice
adult male
Llhas Apso (Mix)

So matted down upon intake, Justice had to be sedated in order to be shaved down completely. This smart, sweet boy, a 3 year old and about 23lbs., had been living on his own for quite some time, fending for himself the best that he could. Fortunately, he is coming around to "domestic" life and is trusting his foster mom more each and every day. Justice will need a quiet, adult only home. SmallDog Rescue now considers Justice to be a permanent foster dog. His foster family is committed to loving and caring for him, however long that might be and SmallDog Rescue is committed to paying for his medical care, as expensive as it may become. If you would like to send a contribution to the care of Justice, please send it to: Small Dog Rescue at P. O. Box 888570, Atlanta, GA 30356 for Justice. For your convenience, we also accept credit cards and PayPal. Just click below. Thank you!

Thank you, Susan G, for sponsoring Justice in January!

Mamie Smith
adult female

Cocker Spaniel (Pure)

Mamie Smith’s owner died about 2 years ago. A family member took her in, but their dog was aggressive to her. This sweet ol’ Cocker Spaniel had to live outside for 2 years where her coat suffered from not being maintained. The family that tried to keep her decided to have her put down but the vet didn’t want to – Mamie was still loving life, even though hers hadn’t been the best recently. SDR decided her last home should be one that loves, wants her, and will keep her inside and pamper her, so here she is, ready and waiting for that special home to come along. She had to be completely shaved save for her face and the bottom of her legs, but behind that pitiful hairdo is a wonderful girl ready to put her past behind her and retire to her dream home.
